I Clicked it Up a Notch for Wordful Wednesday on Thursday

October 4, 2012 in Life, Photography

I am currently working on a logo design for a local business, editing photos and preparing for a very busy shooting weekend coming up…, and eating Ghirardelli dark chocolate caramel before the kids find it. Somewhere in there I need to throw laundry in the washer, in the dryer and on the couch. I always expect that laundry gnome to stop by and fold it at night. He can’t find my house, I guess.

I took this photograph on a recent hike through the woods at Somerset Beach Campground with the kids. I am entering it at Click It Up a Notch’s monthly contest. It is an extreme angle on a mushroom that was growing on the side of a fallen tree. I didn’t get poison ivy from lying on the ground to get this shot, thankfully!

What’s in your plans for this weekend??

Frandom: Cement, George Washington, and Rapping Parents

September 21, 2012 in Frandom, Life

Frandom is a post I write on some Friday’s that is always totally random.

George Washington

The kids were playing around outside one evening with the balls that you throw at a cheap plastic yard game we recently purchased. They started balancing them on their heads and my oldest son yelled out, “I’m George Washington!” It reminded him of the powdered wig that Washington wears in the paintings.

While I admire his historical knowledge, this is clearly offensive and politically incorrect to those who may still wear these wigs, and I took the opportunity to teach him about being more tolerant towards those who choose to wear odd white baby powder wigs on their antique heads. I’m always looking for teachable moments here…

Cement

What a difference cement makes to the exterior of the house! It also has cut down on some of the dirt that gets tracked into the house by the family and the dog, so score one for me! The cement may have also resulted in me inadvertently running over the actual yard game the kids use those George Washington balls for. Whoops…

Parent Rap

Have you seen this parent rap video? I don’t typically listen to music from the rap genre, but I will make an exception for this. Awesome is an inadequate word to describe it. I want to be her friend.

Free Download

A recent project was featured on Beautifully Rooted over the weekend. These cards are simple to download, print and keep tucked in your bible or next to your bed. You could even tape them to the window above the sink, or on the bathroom mirror.
