While I appreciate deep thoughts, especially funny or clever ones, that is not the type of reflection that I want to talk about today.

I am always on the search for creative ways to photograph something. Photographing reflections can be a wonderful way to practice your photography skills, and stretch your creativity.

These shots were taken in the kitchen as Sissy scooped watermelon into a stainless steel bowl. The interesting thing about a bowl is that you really have to work the angle to make sure that you are not in the photo. She happily scooped away while I climbed on tables, chairs, laid on the table, stood on the table, and contorted my body into hurtful positions. I am totally willing to get dirty, look weird, and seem strange to get the shot I want. Look for reflections on metal bowls, mirrors, windows, puddles, lakes, raindrops, jewelry, door knobs, glasses, balloons, etc.

The next time you are taking a picture of anything, look for a reflection, and work the angle to get a creative shot.
