WW: Random Points One Through Five
July 24, 2012 in Illustrations, Photography, Wordful Wednesday
Random Point #1: Ponds at Sunset are the Coolest
The other night I had the chance to photograph the evening sky over Grandma’s pond. I had taken several pictures earlier, but Jer called me back out to take some more. I didn’t realize how quickly the sky could change when it is cloudy, or I would have just stayed put. This evening was particularly beautiful.
Random Point #2: I Hate Getting Water Up My Nose
Swimming has been a major force behind our decisions this summer, since Michigan has been terribly hot, and often humid. It’s like my body is crying sweat tears when I am out there in the blasted sun for more than 20 minutes. It does make for wonderful swimming, so I should refrain from complaints…but I probably will forget the minute I start sweating. Did I mention it’s hot here?
Random Point #3: We Like Each Other. Like, “Like Like” Each Other.
This guy and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary this past weekend. He loves this picture since he isn’t smiling (Not smiling for pictures is a condition that afflicts some of the males in his family. It’s genetic–and irritating at times.) 12 years ago, he was like, “You’re cute and you smell nice. Let’s get married,” and I was like, “I could look at your face for the next 60 years. Sure, why not?” Ok. So that was an amusing dramatization. We’ve worked hard to build a great relationship and common dreams and we are very excited to no longer be considered newbies at marriage. Seasoned married people can stop rolling their eyes at us when we say, “We aren’t pretending we like each other, we actually like each other!”
Random Point #4: At a Certain Point, You Are Too Old To Wear a String Bikini.
Jer, DeanO and I attended Michigan’s Adventure with our church youth group on Monday. DeanO rode his first roller coaster and loved it. DeanO decided afterwards that he wanted to design his own roller coaster. He would offer awards as detailed in the illustration I did above. I am the person on the left, hunkered down and wondering what possessed me to ride a roller coaster. Jer is on the right, loving every minute of it. We spent the afternoon at the waterpark, which is where random point #4 was born.
Random Point #5: Lawyers are Not Fun and You Do Not Want to Meet One. In Court. Because You Stole My Work.
If you follow Gigi Marie Photography, you probably heard that someone stole pictures of her and her daughter and said they were pictures of herself and her child. That inspired the illustration above and I am offering it to bloggers as a button to use on their website as a warning to the potential readers that may visit their blog and consider stealing their work. I encourage you to create a page to link to that describes your copyright information and details how you wish others to share your images. You can also learn how to watermark your photos with ipiccy with this tutorial I did for Somewhat Simple.

Beautiful pond, and congrats on your anniversary.
The sunset shot is absolutely amazing! I love all the other shots, too!
Happy Anniversary! What is it with our men not smiling for pictures? That’s crazy that someone stole pictures of Gigi and her daughter and claimed they were pictures of themselves. CRAZY!
Through a Lens and a Windshield
Sunset shot is amazing!
You are awesome!!!! Thank you- I will be installing this button right now!
Nice to meet you! I love the water sunset photo. You’re right – the sky changes so quickly; in fact I’ve missed some fabulous sky colors because I didn’t have the camera ready. And I’ve recently missed a terrific opportunity to shoot hummingbirds on my deck and it made me wish for a tripod! I haven’t been including a watermark on my shots – your comments make me wonder if I should again. What type of copyright do you suggest for everyday (non photographers) bloggers?
Carrie – Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. You should watermark your photos as a safety measure even if you are not a photography blogger – then your images will always have your name or blog address when they are pinned to pinterest or found through an image search. You can create your own copyright button that would fit your own needs at http://creativecommons.org/ and click Choose a License. Hope this helps!
Love your photos, and thanks for the button and I will view the tutorial.
