Frandom: Sultry Expressions, Water Bombs, and a Puppy

June 15, 2012 in Life

Today’s Friday. Today ‘s post is random. It’s Frandom.

Edit Me

This week’s edit me challenge inspired a magazine style edit. I focused on airbrushing her skin and applying some diffusion to her hair to smooth it out. I applied a texture to the background. I cropped it to bring the focus onto the model’s sultry expression. For those who like to have more details on the edit, you can read more in-depth below.

I lightened and brightened using curves and levels.

I removed skin imperfections using the patch tool.

I created a duplicate layer and set it to soft light at 30%.

I cloned out the white flowers and a few other things that were distracting the eye.

I evened out the skin by creating a layer and selecting a midrange skin tone on the model with the eye dropper tool. Then with a soft airbrush set at 20% opacity and 20% flow I painted over the skin. I reduced the opacity of this layer to 60%.

I added a diffusion layer to her hair to smooth and blend it a bit. I can’t remember the opacity I used on this layer.

I created another layer and added a grunge texture from Lost and Taken to it. I set that layer to Overlay and Reduced the Opacity to 25%. I removed the texture from the model with an eraser.

I cropped the image and added an edge burn.

I also decided to share some random archive pictures in this post.  Remember? Frandom?

Here is one that was taken in the spring of Monkey. He was wearing a teenage friends hat and sunglasses. He is the coolest.

We have been doing lots with water around here. Chasing, Tormenting, Soaking, Sprinkling. It’s all been done.

They made “water balloons” with large storage baggies and Sissy is screaming to signal to her brother that she doesn’t like it, but her facial expression is saying, “I love this!.”

And the biggest news we have around here is the addition of a puppy. Many hours of thought, prayer and talking went into this decision. We are better prepared than we ever have been with a pet, and we start obedience class today with a local trainer. We have had him for almost two weeks, and it is going well. Actually, much better than I may have been anticipating with my overactive imagination.

Here I caught him sleeping with his paw on his crate.

A friend recently posted on Facebook that she wanted to get a puppy or a dog and asked for advice. Well, she certainly got lots of it! Respondents were all over the map with their comments. Some saying NO! Some saying Yes! Some saying, Are you crazy?!

I know that a puppy is a lot of work, BUT it can also bring a lot of fun and joy to a family, especially children (This is coming from a woman who is not a dog person). My only stipulation for getting a dog was that we MUST go to obedience school. I want a dog with manners and I want to know how to teach him those manners. So off to puppy school we go! Who will learn more, the pup, or me?

And will the trainer work with children? Just kidding! Happy Frandom!
