WW: Buckets O’Berries

June 12, 2012 in Wordful Wednesday

For the past few years we have traveled to local farms to pick a few buckets O’berries. Well….DeanO and I picked two buckets this year with the help of our neighbor and her daughters. As we were walking to the field, the lady at the farm yelled out to the kids, “Make sure you eat some berries!” At that moment Sissy and Monkey completely forgot that the purpose of the trip was for harvesting berries, and they immediately shifted their focus to consumption of the berries.

Each year I struggle. Should I just buy the berries already picked? It would be easier. It would be a lot less turmoil and stress than taking four kids to the field and hoping they won’t be the opposite of angels. In the end, it is either my frugality or my motherly memory making side that wins out. This year they had their moments–and there was one temper tantrum on the straw between the rows of berries–but we all had fun and we did make some fun memories amid the buckets O’berries.

How about you? Do you prefer to pick your own strawberries?

As soon as DeanO sees my camera, he is either asking to use it, or showing me all the good shots he sees. I got it set up for him and let him take a few pictures. Below is one that he took at the farm.
