WW: Is the Sky Half Empty or Half Full?
May 1, 2012 in Uncategorized
Last weekend I had the privilege of attending our 5th annual ladies retreat at a nearby campground. We stay for two nights in a cozy lodge that overlooks a lake. We play games and laugh. We attend bible studies taught by amazing women.
This year it rained. Then it snowed a bit. Then it rained again. I don’t really mind the rain. I was able to practice some photography utilizing the rainy scene. The one you see above was taken with the Instagram app on my phone.
We hoped that it would clear off Saturday afternoon, and it did by the time of the mid-afternoon indoor volleyball game. For the second year in a row I was unable to participate. My ankle is still healing from my recent soccer injury. I couldn’t face Jer or my doctor if I reinjured showing off my amazing volleyball skills. (This last part was said with complete humbleness and humility, of course. Read this post for more on my athletic feats.)
(If you are coming over from Mom Tried It Photo Feedback, the picture below is the one I have chosen to submit. Thanks!)
The next morning it had cleared up. I headed out before breakfast to snap a few after the rain shots.
The lake was still calm and there was a little fog. It was a great end to a relaxing and spiritually uplifting weekend.

Well, you may have had some lousy weather but boy did it make for some beautiful photos or what? Gorgeous!
Your photos are just gorgeous. I love the rain shot. I wish I could offer some suggestion, but I can’t come up with a thing. It’s beautiful and inviting. Perhaps a b/w conversion might lend more moodiness, but I really like the gentle tones in it just the way you have it.
Beautiful photos. I really like the depth of field you did on the one for Photo Feedback. The exposure is dead on, too. My only suggestion would be to maybe show more of the background (kind of like the first shot, but with the focus on the water drops on the glass). That way we would get more of the story and scenery of the photo. Fantastic job. Way to take advantage of crummy weather.
Gorgeous photos Molly
